About this activity

Watch world-class tango dancers in the historic San Telmo neighbourhood over a four-course Argentine dinner.

Details

Tango was born in the conventillos of Buenos Aires — a fusion of African rhythms, European polka, and the melancholy of immigrants searching for connection. Tonight, in a candlelit milonga built in 1880, twelve dancers and four musicians will show you what that longing looks like when it becomes art.

What's Included

  • VIP seating at a historic milonga in San Telmo
  • Four-course dinner with Argentine wines
  • 90-minute professional tango show (four acts)
  • Introduction to tango history and culture by your host
  • Optional beginner tango lesson (30 min before the show)

The Menu

  • Empanadas and grilled provoleta (starter)
  • Ojo de bife (ribeye) or Atlantic salmon with chimichurri
  • Dulce de leche crêpes (postre)
  • Malbec from Mendoza and Torrontés from Salta included

The Show

Four acts trace tango's evolution from its 1880s origins as a working-class dance to the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage it became in 2009. The final act features the milonguero style — improvised tango danced by couples from the audience.

Tango is not a dance. It is a conversation between two bodies about everything that cannot be said in words.
